Robert Frosts Mending Wall Traditions have always had a substantial effect on the lives of human beings, and always will. Robert Frost uses many unique poetic devices in his poem â€Å"Mending Wall,† as well as many shifts in the speaker’s tone to develop his thoughts on traditions. The three predominant tones used are those of questioning, irony and humor. The speaker questions many things in relation to the wall that is being rebuilt. For example, â€Å"Something there is that doesn’t love a wall†, is used to question what despises the wall’s presence. She will be free to do what she wants to do, when she wants to do it. Another characteristic of Louise, which also adds to the irony of this story, is her passion for living. She mentions that she will weep again when she is present at her husbands funeral, but she is able to look past that grim moment and look forward to the years to come that would belong to her absolutely. Just when she is beginning to savor the sweet sense of freedom, her husband shows up at their house alive. When she sees him, she dies, not from the joy that kills, but because she is heart-broken and shocked at the rality. She dies because she realizes that since hes not dead, she will not be free. The drastic halt is too much for her to handle. There are a few symbols in the story, which are symbolic of Louises life of freedom. The spring day symbolizes a new beginning of her life in which she is free. Spring is the time when living things propagate and are reborn. Likewise, Louise believes she will become productive, energized and reborn.. Louise has her whole life of freedom to look forward to. A second symbol is the open window in her bedroom. The window suggests that there is no material object standing in the way of her new life. There is a clear passage between her life for captivity to her life of freedom. Her husband was the only person holding her back, but now that hes gone, shes able to look forward to the future when she can live her life for herself. The most important conflict in this story is appearance versus reality. To all the people it would appear that Louise would greive over Brently since they would assume she wad happily married and content in her sub-serviant role as a housewife. Louises sister Josephine exemplifies such a judgment of how Louises reaction to the sudden death of her husband, Brently. Josephine misinterprets Louises behavior, thinking she is hysterical over Brentlys death. She pleads, Louise, open the door! I beg; open the door- you will make yourself ill. To Josephine Louise appears to be heart-broken, but in reality, Louise is relieved by his death. Louises friend, Richard also has mistaken notions of how Louise will react. He rushed over to tell her of the sad news, when unknowingly to him, it is very good news to Louise. An ironic aspect about this story is the fact that Richard rushes over to tell Louise of the news of her husbands death and is too late to block Brentlys view of his wife. If he was too late getting the news to Louise, Brently would have made it to the house first, and Louise would have lived her life as she did previously. Teacher can tell â€Å"bye bye , have agood day, see you† (bye bye avere una buona giornata) at the end of class.It is very interesting and quick learning technique. Here one who is teaches and one who is learning both can enjoy. Both can communicate with each other freely and both can feel comfortable after little time. Prospects of using this method is, it is quick, easy to implement and comfortable technique. In additon to this it technique can help the students to memorize words, sentences for long time, can help student in building vocabulary easi ly.The only disadvantage of this method is, in the starting phase students may get confused. Students may feel boarded or confused in early days as they don’t know much what was going. But a good teacher can overcome this problem via applying proper timing and gestures. So teachers and students all can enjoy study. Proper use of gestures and physical movement plays major part in success of this type of reference interventions. Teacher who use proper timing and gestures can use reference intervention more efficiently than who cannot use it. One can make subject more lucid and interesting with help of reference method. But if teacher don’t use it efficiently may be this reference intervention methodology won’t work as it supposed to be. It is not methodology’s failure but it is failure of particular teacher (Anon., n.d.). One can use Intervention methodology for language and other type of teaching too. For language teaching responsive intervention methodolo gy and scaffolded interventions are mainly used due to their above described features and prospects. One can use both responsive intervention methodology and scaffolded intervention methodology at once. Means one can use a combination of both intervention methodologies responsive and scaffolded. Learning Love and Respect in The Joy Luck Club In Amy Tan’s novel, The Joy Luck Club, the character of An-mei learns to love and respect her mother. This essay will focus on the precise moment of the transformation of An-mei to a strong, self-confident woman. Although An-mei's mother was dying, An-mei's mother still believed in saving her by "cooking magic in the ancient tradition" so as "to try to cure her mother this one last time". That was how An-mei "came to love my mother", "how I saw her in my own true nature and what was beneath my skin, inside my bones". An-mei's mother "pull up her sleeve" and "put this knife on the softest part of her arm" and "cut a piece of meat from her arm". An-mei "tried to close my eyes, but could not". An-mei saw that "tears poured from her (mother's) face and blood spilled to the floor. Even though Popo's mouth was "already too tight from trying to keep her spirit in", An-mei's mother still "fed her this soup". However, Popo passed away in the end. An-mei "could see the pain of the flesh" and "the worth of the pain". She understands that this is the way " a daughter honours her mother", "it is to shou so deep it is in your bones". She knows that "the pain of the flesh is nothing, the pain you must forget". When An-mei returned with her mother to Teintsin, she had an encounter with Second Wife who gave her a pearl necklace. Her mother scolded her for it. "what you hear is not genuine. She(Second Wife)makes clouds with one hand, rain with the other. She is trying to trick you, so you will do anything for her", but An-mei "tried not to listen to my mother". In the end, An-mei's mother crushed the pearl necklace and it was only then that An-mei realized "the necklace that had almost bought my heart and mind now had one bead of crushed glass". Her mother did not want An-mei to let Second Wife "buy you(her) for such a cheap price". After that, An-mei would always "remember how easy it is to lose myself to something false". An-mei saw the truth beyond the surface with her mother's help. After knowing what happened to her mother, An-mei saw how circumstantial her mother was.

All Quiet on the Western Front-Novel

â€Å"Men may have escaped the shells of battle but were often destroyed by war† How is this idea explored in the novel? â€Å"All Quiet on the Western Front† written by Erich Maria Remarque explores the idea that men have escaped the shells of battle but were often destroyed by war. Remarque presents the changes in Paul and his friends and by displaying the sense of isolation the men feel after the war by using a range of techniques. Remarque displays the changes in Paul and his friends by showing how the boys were once school boys who had an education and a future but war extinguished all innocence and hope for a future.The boys begin as an innocent class of twenty young men have the belief that war would be a glorious experience. â€Å"†¦Our heads were full of nebulous ideas which cast an idealized, almost romantic glow over life and even the war†¦Ã¢â‚¬  (p. 15)This enables the reader to comprehend how much of an impact the opinion of the older generation had. Remarque uses the technique of inclusive language â€Å"When we came out here we were cut off, whether we like it or not, from everything we had done up to that point. † (p. 4) to reveal the universal suffering of the men. When Paul returns home he realises that only those who experienced the war would truly understand the effect the war had on the individual. When Paul’s Mother talks to him about the war she tries to understand what Paul is suffering but Paul realises she truly has no idea. â€Å"She says ‘with the gas and all the rest of it’. She doesn’t know what she is saying†¦Ã¢â‚¬  (p. 116) This further destroys the men as they as no one truly understands what they’re feeling.Remarque continues to use metaphors during the text to demonstrate how the boys’ outlook on life has changed dramatically. â€Å"†¦The war has ruined us for everything†¦ We are no longer young men. We’ve lost any desire to conq uer the world. We are refugees. We are fleeing from ourselves. From our lives. † (p. 63) this quote emphasises how the war has killed everything inside of them that ever hoped for a future because the boys cannot literally flee from their lives. ‘We are refugees’ maintains the point that they will never be able to escape from the war and its effects.Lastly the metaphor â€Å"an abyss of suffering† finalises the amount of pain, grief and suffering the boys will face for the rest of their lives. On the surface it appears that the war has not impacted Paul and his way life but his struggles are imminent when he returns home on leave. Paul experiences a deep feeling of isolation when he returns home to find himself struggling to reconnect with civilisation. â€Å"The scenes existed once- but they will never return. They are gone, they are another world, a world that is in the past for us† (p. 7) This urges the reader to sympathise with Paul as he uses a sad, desperate tone of voice, wishing that he could become part of his old world again. â€Å"This sudden confrontation with the civilized world is too much for me. † (p. 174) This stresses the point that Paul has been away for so long, living in a completely different world of death, despair and fear that he is overwhelmed at the prospect of a clean bed and a proper toilet. When Paul returns home he develops an understanding of how a barrier has built itself between Paul and his old life.This quote further portrays the isolation Paul feels at home â€Å"’You are home, you are home. ’ But there is an awkwardness that will not leave me, I can’t get used to everything yet†¦ There is a veil and a few steps between me and them. † (p. 115) â€Å"Suddenly a terrible feeling of isolation wells up inside me. I can’t get back, I’m locked out; however much I might plead, however much I try†¦ and the past turns away from me. † ( p. 124) Remarque uses the tone of voice and words such as ‘I’ and ‘me’ to conclude that Paul is alone in his suffering and that at this point in time, he has no one to turn to.The metaphor ‘the past turns away from me’ allows the reader to fully comprehend how strong the barrier is that has formed and how isolated Paul feels when he describes how he feels as if his past is literally turning away from him and leaving him behind in the uncertainty and despair of war. Remarque effectively captured the idea of how although men escaped the shells of battle their lives were destroyed by the war. It reveals how the men evolved from being young and innocent with a family and future to knowing nothing but death and despair and having no hope for a future.

(Amendment I) to the United States Constitution prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion, impeding the free exercise of religion, abridging the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press, interfering with the right to peaceably Assemble or prohibiting the petitioning for governmental redress of grievances. In Accordance with the first amendment the U.S. Supreme Court has made an exception to its First Amendment jurisprudence for public employees through the incorporation of the Balancing test. The Balancing Test is defined as the principle emerging out of U.S. Supreme Court Cases that the individual liberties of public employees protected by the Constitution are no absolute and must be balanced against the requirements of their government jobs. through the balancing Act the Court provides guidelines on balance between the public needs and Individual rights outside the context of the Hatch Act and Partisan Politics.
